Prom under $100: Another Fashion Fallout Formula!

One Mark & James by Badgley Mischka Cleopatra draped dress ($75 from Rent the Runway)

+ One Cinched Clutch in black ($5.94 from Target)
+ One Pair Waltz Studded Sandals ($18.80 from Forever 21)
= Laid-back Glam for $99.74!

This is a great ensemble for a few reasons. The dress is so beautifully ornate, you really don't need any additional jewelry. Plus, because of the Greco-Roman influence, you can wear flats (handy if you feel uncomfortable in heels, or if you happen to be taller than your date).

Another lovely evening dress, plus how to do prom for under $100!

My, my. What a chiffon-layered lovely! The color is "midnight" (or navy blue in layman's), and the front is traditional, but the back is oh so swishy and elegant! A light wispy sleeve in the front gives way to a sweeping cascade of asymmetrical delight when you turn away from your adoring crowd. I bet you didn't know I was a poet! I know, I shouldn't flatter myself.

This dress is a true size 10, and it's brand spanking new with tags. Original retail price is $210, by Wtoo by Watters & Watters. If you'd like to purchase it for a shockingly low $45 (including shipping), please click on the corresponding "Buy Now" button on the right-hand side.

In other business, I came across a website today that answers one of prom's most baffling age-old questions: if men can rent tuxedos, why can't women rent prom gowns?

Now they can. Introducing the ingenius Rent the Runway. Rent the Runway stocks incredible current designer dresses and gowns for just about any occasion in sizes 0-12, and rental rates are about 90% off retail prices (most dresses rent for $50-$100).

You have a prom to go to? Bam.

A wedding? Voila.

Performing in a rock show? Kick it.

Getting married? Uh huh.

Interviewing for an internship at Vogue?

Okay, maybe not (although I'm sure they would appreciate your apparent love for Yigal Azrouƫl). You get the idea.

"But Jacqui," you ask, "how will I know that the dress I'm renting will actually fit me?" Well, that's where the true genius of Rent the Runway's enterprise comes in. They will actually send you TWO dresses for your event in different sizes to ensure a perfect fit. Yes, they have thought of everything.

Well, almost everything. Next, head on over to Avelle to rent your accessories. Clutches, jewelry... heck, you can even rent sunglasses if your prom is taking place in an especially sunny place. Rentals start from $5 for one week.

So let's recap. You can put an entire prom ensemble together for less than $100 if you follow this Fashion Fallout Formula:

One Badgley Mischka organza origami dress ($50 from Rent the Runway)
+ One pair of Kate Spade dangle earrings ($6.75 from Avelle with a discount code from RetailMeNot)
+ One A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz wire bangle ($7.50 from Avelle with a discount code from RetailMeNot)
+ One Lorelei 'Chloe' sash front clutch ($7.50 from Avelle with a discount code from RetailMeNot)
+ One pair of Nine West "Barb" pumps ($18.40 at 6pm)
= Perfectly styled and red-carpet ready for $90.15!

Yes, you actually have to purchase the shoes. But at $18.40, you shouldn't mind (and I'm not sure you would want to rent shoes, anyway).

So this post has taken me hours to write, but I'm still not quite done...

Take a moment to click on the link to the right and vote for my blog. We'll both be entered to win $1,000 and some fabulous prizes!

Speaking of fabulous prizes, make sure that you start following me on twitter right now. My first Twitter giveaway will start this Friday, and I only have two followers, so your odds of winning something amazing are pretty pretty good!

That's all for now. Whew! I'm going to bed. Happy shopping!

It's Fashion Fallout Prom Week! Get your Prada on for $100!

This week on Fashion Fallout, I'm going to be listing some fabulous prom gowns and accessories, starting with this one from Prada:

The dress is about ten years old and was originally thousands of dollars. It's the same dress that Julianne Moore wore in Vogue circa 2000. I scooped it up at a sample sale a long time ago, and I've never ever worn it.

It's a size 6-8, but the fluidity of this dress ensures that it could fit a range of sizes (up to a 10, I bet). Halter top, plunging back. It's constructed of a gorgeous blue silk, which peeks out from the bottom of the pastilled overlay.

The dress needs a quick trip to the tailor for a cheap fix; a few of the pastilles have fallen off, but are still attached to the dress (I tried to show this in the close up photos). A few of the pastilles are also bent from being improperly stored. My bad. Even with the imperfections, it's still absolutely stunning.

This is a showstopper for the crazy low price of $100. You saw that right. Prada. $100. Crazy. Buy it on the side there.

Take a quick moment to follow me on Twitter! I'm going to be having some Twitter giveaways this week, so if you'd like to win, make sure you follow me! I only have one follower at the moment, so, again, your odds are fantastic.

Vintage African Inspired Necklace!

This is a really cool piece. I got it in a second hand store in San Francisco a few years ago, and now it can be yours for the low low price of $5!

It looks really cool with a plain white tee and jeans! You want it. Hit the corresponding "Buy Now" button on the side.

Last Blog Deal of the Day!

This Betsey Johnson Go Go Betsey Hobo is adorable. You want this, trust me. I bought it brand spanking new from Avelle and I never used it! Tags are still attached, comes with a dust bag. Retail price on the tag is $235, but you can steal it from me for $70 (and that includes shipping).

Here's what it looks like:

Oh! And if anybody has any questions about anything for sale, you can leave a comment or email me at fashionfallout@gmail.com. If you'd like to buy something, please click on the corresponding "Buy Now" buttons on the right-hand side of the page.

Also, please follow Fashion Fallout on Twitter. I'm going to have a Twitter contest next week to give away some more of my stuff. I have exactly zero followers right now, so your odds of winning something are really good.

My next item for "sale" is free!!

You just pay postage (I'm estimating it to be about $6).

This is an adorable used (but still in great condition) pair of size 9 Xhilaration boots from everyone's favorite discount store, Target. If I recall correctly, I believe they were about $30 at the time of purchase. No weird smells or anything. I just don't wear them anymore. You can have them for free, plus shipping.

This is what they look like:

Cute, right? Take them off my hands by paying for shipping through the "Buy Now" button to the right.
